"But you see now baby, whether you have a PhD, D.D., or No D we're in this bag together. Whether you went to Morehouse or No House, we're still in this bag together."
-Fannie Lou Hamer
Black Voices United is a community organizing and advocacy structure striving to create new opportunities for Black community members to engage in educational, informational and political spaces throughout Oregon, with a specific emphasis in the Portland Metropolitan Area. This movement is focused on centering Black voices and providing pathways for Black community members to safely engage in local politics that directly impact their day-to-day lives.
The spaces that Black Voices strives to create are unapologetically Black-centered and focused, as we believe it is paramount for spaces that are free from harassment, anti-blackness and other restrictions that Black folks may face in spaces that are not designed or centered with their empowerment in mind.
